Meet our Staff

Sarah McGriff

 Music Director

Sarah McGriff is a New Sharon native and has been a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Oskaloosa. Sarah holds a degree in Music Performance from Texas State University and a Masters of Business from Maryville University. She has competed at the international trumpet competition, was named the top college radio broadcaster in the nation by the Broadcast Education Association, and was a member of the Texas State Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphony Orchestra, and the Bobcat Marching Band. She attended Florida State University as a music history graduate assistant and has worked as a sound technician for artists such as Randy Rogers Band and Cody Johnson, as a counselor and resident assistant at the world renowned Interlochen Academy for the Arts, and as a music journalist studying the sounds of Texas Country Music. She has always enjoyed participating in the vocal and bell choir of the church and is overjoyed to be able to work with the musicians of First Presbyterian Church of Oskaloosa, rejoicing together through shared gifts and the love of music.

Anita Meinert

Pianist/Organist

Anita has lived in Oskaloosa, IA ever since she went to school at William Penn College. Anita is proud to share this was her mom's school as well! Anita and her husband Dave and teach at William Penn University; Dave is a Business professor and Anita teaches  Music Theory, Music History, and is the WPU Choir Director. The Meinert's live on a small farm on the per Anita, it is on the "busiest gravel road in the county, trust me on this!" where they have 6 Morgan horses, 3 cats and 3 dogs.

 

Anita and Dave have two children- Laura, who works for Hubbell Homes in Des Moines, and Chris, who is the new band/choir director at Pekin Community Schools. 

We are so happy and blessed to have Sarah & Anita leading our music ministry at Oskaloosa First Presbyterian!
