Warm Welcome to First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa, IA:
Our Worship Service - thanks to all of you who were able to join us on Facebook for a live-stream of this past week's Worship. The recorded service is available on our Facebook page (search for First Presbyterian Church of Oskaloosa) and is also available on our website. We'll be live-streaming again this week unless Governor Reynolds orders everyone to stay home.
Holding meetings - as we told you last week, the session is asking all groups to meet via e-mail, a conference call, or web-based services like Zoom. Zoom is being used by lots of congregations right now for things like Bible studies because users can see each other's faces in real time. If you have a smartphone, a tablet, or a computer, you can download the Zoom app free and then use it for small group meetings. I really encourage you to give it a try.
Giving - remember that if you're a person who typically donates to the church by putting something in the offering plate on Sunday morning, we need you to either mail you donation to the church or set it up as an automatic payment from your checking account. We need to be able to continue to pay the bills, even though we're not able to gather.
If we're ordered to shelter in place - if Governor Reynolds does order us to all shelter in place, neither Judy nor I will be here during the week. We can, however, still receive e-mails, and Judy will forward the church's calls to her phone. Please continue to honor the church's office hours, though, and only call during her regular working hours. You can always reach me by email. (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by calling or texting me at 515-231-3958.
I can tell that this is a congregation that stays in touch! Please continue to check in with each other, especially if you're friends with someone you now doesn't have e-mail. This is a very rough time for all of us. Even those without underlying physical or mental health conditions are struggling to stay calm. Just know that God is with all of us . Sarai
